Opera 12 is a web browser developed by Opera Software ASA, available for download in full install version for Windows platforms from legacy sources. This version of Opera was officially released on 2012-06-14 for public access and a brief summary of important updates and change log pertaining to this edition can be read below.

Opera 12 was the last edition to be built on Presto layout engine and there are about 12 builds from its beta version released on 14-Jun-2012 to the final edition 12.17 released as late as 23-Apr-2014 spanning more than one and half year time frame.

Among the changes notable one are Out-of-Process Plug-ins, 64 Bit editions, New light weight themes, Address field enhancements, Hardware Acceleration and RTL(Right-To-Left) language Support Script.

With this edition, Opera stabilized the core process by running plug-ins in a separate process, thus eliminating abrupt closure of the browser due to misbehaving plugins. This edition also has 64 Bit versions for Windows and Mac, improving overall stability & performance.

Now themes can be installed as hot change, thus eliminating the need of restarting the browser for theme changes to effect. Now Opera offloads the Graphic intensive processes from CPU to GPU thus accelerating the Graphic intensive web pages to render fast.

With introduction of RTL support, many languages like Persian, Urdu, Hebrew and Arabic are added to the list.
